Undifferentiated sarcomas in humans and veterinary species

چکیده
Undifferentiated sarcomas, more correctly known as undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas (UPS), are a form of soft tissue sarcoma. They appear to be uncommonly diagnosed in veterinary species but represent the second most common sarcoma human adults. There is an evolving nomenclature around these tumours, with older reports referring ‘malignant fibrous histiocytoma’, have been reclassified into several different tumour types, including UPS. This makes review literature challenging, many tumours previously referred malignant histiocytomas and not same En bloc surgical excision mainstay treatment all species, although adjunctive radiotherapy perioperative chemotherapy improve prognosis humans, should considered horses this type. Metastasis uncommon can devastating when it occurs.

Macrophage infiltration and genetic landscape of undifferentiated uterine sarcomas.
Endometrial stromal tumors include translocation-associated low- and high-grade endometrial stromal sarcomas (ESS) and highly malignant undifferentiated uterine sarcomas (UUS). UUS is considered a poorly defined group of aggressive tumors and is often seen as a diagnosis of exclusion after ESS and leiomyosarcoma (LMS) have been ruled out. We performed a comprehensive analysis of gene expression...
متن کاملGene Expression Profiling in Leiomyosarcomas and Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcomas: SRC as a New Diagnostic Marker
BACKGROUND Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma (UPS) and high-grade Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) are soft tissue tumors with an aggressive clinical behavior, frequently developing local recurrence and distant metastases. Despite several gene expression studies involving soft tissue sarcomas, the potential to identify molecular markers has been limited, mostly due to small sample size, in-group heterog...
متن کاملGenomic Signatures Predict Poor Outcome in Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcomas and Leiomyosarcomas
Undifferentiated high-grade pleomorphic sarcomas (UPSs) display aggressive clinical behavior and frequently develop local recurrence and distant metastasis. Because these sarcomas often share similar morphological patterns with other tumors, particularly leiomyosarcomas (LMSs), classification by exclusion is frequently used. In this study, array-based comparative genomic hybridization (array CG...
متن کاملOne Health: Veterinary Involvement and Zoonoses in Humans
Introduction: As veterinarians are often first to identify zoonotic disease events in animals, their involvement in One Health should be facilitated and strengthened by support from zoonotic disease surveillance systems and health regulations specific to zoonotic disease surveillance. Objectives: To identify relatable trends between the relationship of the number of active veterinary profession...
متن کاملTumor and Stem Cell Biology Hedgehog and Notch Signaling Regulate Self-Renewal of Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcomas
Like many solid tumors, sarcomas are heterogeneous and include a small fraction of the so-called side population (SP) cells with stem-like tumor-initiating potential. Here, we report that SP cells from a soft tissue tumor of enigmatic origin termed undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (also known as malignant fibrous histiocytoma or MFH sarcoma) display activation of both the Hedgehog and Notch...
